Preserving the Religion of the Metro Detroit's Chaldean Catholic Community
The Metro Detroit Chaldean Catholic Church plays a big role in preserving religious traditions such as the language Sureth (Aramaic), the language of Jesus. The community celebrates religious holidays that keep their heritage alive such as Easter, Christmas, and many Chaldean festivals. Churches provide a space for language preservation, teaching Sureth (Aramaic) to the younger generations. For example, I did catechism as a kid which was a program that you go to weekly and learn about the Word of God. It is a program that most Chaldean children attend at some point in their childhood.

Importance of Attending Mass and Confession
As Chaldeans, mass and confession are two very important things we have to attend. As Catholics, the fourth commandment is "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy." Confession is also something important to attend because that is the only way that you can be forgiven for your mortal sins. Mortal sins can be any of the 10 commandments. These services are offered weekly at the Chaldean Catholic Church.
